2013 ACT Workshop Information

ACT Workshops:

This March high schools in Michigan will again administer the Michigan Merit Exam to high-school Juniors.  Five years ago this test replaced the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (the MEAP test). The Michigan Department of Education has determined to use the traditional American College Test (which you know as the ACT) as the first major part of the MME, and the Mich. Dept. of  Ed has worked to ensure that colleges will accept this school-day administered ACT.

In fact, scholarship organizations and colleges, in state and out, focus more and more on scores for standardized tests such as the ACT. Here at T-T Workshops (for Test Taking Workshops), we’ve been helping high-school juniors get ready for this important test for 25 years.  We know this test, and we know how to help your child do his or her best.  For a very equitable price, our Saturday one-day workshops typically raise scores 2-4 points through the whole range of performance levels.  And if those extra points qualify your daughter or son for an additional scholarship or grant, we become an even greater value.  

Our workshops have three broad goals: to get students thoroughly familiar with the ACT Assessment; to teach them specific skills and strategies for the test; and to thus increase their confidence as they take it.

Students will learn test-taking skills and strategies including knowing instructions and timing techniques, recognizing common problem types, avoiding errors, eliminating wrong answers, guessing, using a calculator and answer sheet most effectively, and being emotionally and physically prepared. Participants will become familiar with the test's four parts (English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science Reasoning) and the Writing Test! They will then practice their new knowledge and skills through timed sample sections. Let us help your child get ready for the American College Test coming this March as part of the MME or given at traditional test-centers this February 9, April 13 or June 8. 

Cost and Other Terms:

Registration is $70 per Attendee (advanced registration*) and the workshop text, Barron's How to Prepare for the ACT, is provided and may be purchased at the end of the workshop for $15 ($18.95 retail). Registrations will be confirmed via mail or e-mail. Refunds minus $10 processing fee available, but no refunds within 7 days of workshop date.
